Frances Patton Statham has received numerous state, national, and international awards in writing (fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and journalism), music, art, lectures, and community service.

She graduated magna cum laude from Winthrop University with a double major in voice performance and music education, received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Georgia, and an honorary doctorate from World University. She also studied voice and opera with Ralph Errole and Ernesto Vinci. A member of Mu Phi Epsilon music fraternity, Statham combined two careers. She has given voice concerts in such cities as Madrid, Budapest, Singapore, Vancouver, and Cambridge, and is the author of sixteen novels.

Chosen as Georgia Author of the Year in Fiction on three successive occasions, she also received the Romantic Times Reviewers’ Choice Award for the “Best World War II novel," the Frank Stieglitz Memorial Award for a music composition, "Song Cycle for Soprano, Flute, and Piano," NLAPW state awards for song lyrics ("Halloween Suite"; " Walkin' on Sunshine",) and vocal solo, "Song of Esther." She received the Outstanding Speaker of the Year Award for her keynote address in Singapore at the International Congress on Arts and Communications. She was also the subject of a television documentary and a participant in the PBS documentary, "The Southern Voice."

Statham's community service activities include past president of the Atlanta Branch of National League of American Pen Women, as well as Georgia State president, past presidents of Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Guild, Medical Association of Georgia Alliance, DeKalb Medical Center Auxiliary, a past Director of Dixie Council of Authors & Journalists, past member of Association of Junior Leagues, served on the national Board of Directors of American Medical Association Alliance, and the Foundation Board of Winthrop University.

Statham is listed in International Who’s Who of Authors and Writers, World Who’s Who of Women, Dictionary of International Biography, International Who’s Who in Community Service, Personalities of the South, Contemporary Authors, and others.

She lives in metro-Atlanta, Georgia.
